More than at any time in perhaps the past 125 years, New Testament scholarship has been returning to serious questions about the nature of the canonical gospels and the processes behind gospel writing. This scholarly resurgence of interest in and reassessment of the emergence of our New Testament gospels may be leading to a renaissance in our contemporary study of the earliest narrative witnesses to the life and ministry of Jesus. Our desire with this conference is to bring together the most prominent figures in this current discussion with a view to putting these disparate voices into direct dialogue with each other. This conference thus represents and internationally important endeavor that would bring real attention to the subject matter and to the various units of Theology represented at Loyola University Chicago.
