F. Javier Orozco, OFS, PhD

Javier is the Executive Director of Human Dignity and Intercultural Affairs for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, where he also serves as the Ecumenical and Interreligious Officer. He is a Secular Franciscan and theologian with over twenty years of professional experience in religious, educational, and community affairs.
Javier’s formation as a thought leader has been in the context of intercultural and interreligious engagement. As a thought leader, his professional consultations include a variety of local, regional and national partnerships and affiliations that involve distinct civic, business, religious, academic and cultural institutions and interests. He is the current chair of the Cabinet of the Interfaith Partnership of Greater St. Louis and the president of the Catholic Association of Diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers (CADEIO). He is also the immediate past president of the National Catholic Association of Diocesan Directors for Hispanic Ministry (NCADDHM).
Javier’s formation as a theologian has been in the context of the Catholic faith, and its philosophical and theological traditions. As a professionally trained theologian, his academic experience includes completing a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy, and S.T.B (Ecclesiastical Degree) and Ph.D. in Theology. Javier is a past Christian Leadership Initiative Fellow (CLI-Fellow) of the Shalom Hartman Institute and the American Jewish Committee. He is the founder and principal consultant of Convivencia Church Project, a theological initiative that brings together pastoral ministry and theology as dialogue and action for the common good (https://www.convivenciachurchproject.org/).
