Anahi Mendoza
"This was the only exposure I got [to neuroscience] and my experience was so fun."
Last year, during her junior and senior years at Senn High School, Anahi Mendoza took part in the DANA Program for Neuroscience & Society’s after-school workshops, summer ETHOS program and Neuroscience and Society Day.
Mendoza said she valued the time she was given to have daily discussions with her peers during the summer ETHOS program. The experience allowed her to connect with other students. She also appreciated the exploratory nature of the program, which allowed her to survey different areas in the field of neuroscience.
“It’s okay to not like something that you’re doing. It helps you rule out interests and possible career paths if you’re thinking about the future,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza said she would recommend the program to any incoming students, emphasizing the unique conversations and activities she participated in.
“The ethical dilemmas discussed are things you normally don’t talk about in any of your classes. This was the only exposure I got [to neuroscience] and my experience was so fun,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza will be attending the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the fall.
