Tuesday Plautnik
"This was truly the best experience of my high school career."
Last year, Tuesday Plahutnik during her junior year as a student at Senn High School participated in the Dana Program for Neuroscience & Society’s after-school workshops, summer ETHOS program and Neuroscience and Society Day.
After completing after-school sessions that consisted of discussions around neuroethics and neuroscience led by Loyola faculty, Plahutnik was invited to participate in the Summer ETHOS program.
Plahutnik said her time in the ETHOS program was the best experience of her high school career.
“The opportunity to work with professors, undergraduates and researchers is invaluable,” Plahutnik said. “I have gained friends, mentors and role models, and my passion for neuroscience has only grown stronger.”
The most important thing she gained during her involvement in the program was the ability to collaborate in a professional setting, according to Plahutnik.
“Working in a lab with a professor who I could learn from was an amazing opportunity,” Plahutnik said.
Plahutnik advises incoming ETHOS students to ask a lot of questions and remember to advocate for themselves.
“The whole ETHOS team is so supportive and wants you to have the best experience possible,” Plahutnik said. “Make sure you’re setting yourself up for success.”
In the Fall, Plahutnik plans to attend Boston University where she will continue to study neuroscience.
