Noor Alkhafaji
“I’m really happy I was in it, and it was a great experience.”
Sullivan senior Noor Alkhafaji found out about the summer ETHOS program during her junior year of high school and was immediately interested because she wants to be a neurosurgeon. After participating in the after-school workshops, Alkhafaji entered the summer program and began lab work.
Working alongside her lab partner Egypt Tate and her mentor Dr. Yu, Alkhafaji researched mice. Together they studied how mice react to different frequencies, did surgery on them and were able to do profusions as well. “I got so much experience about my future career… it gathered my interest more. I think I might actually be a neurosurgeon and I think it's worth it to study,” Alkhafaji said.
Alkhafaji applied to another medically-related program and talked about the ETHOS experience on her application. “I got accepted,” Alkhafaji said. “I think I got a higher chance by putting this program into my resume. So I’m really happy I was in it and it was a great experience.”
