The Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing had a strong showing at the 2026 Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) conference, winning two awards and taking part in more than two dozen research presentations.
Postdoctoral Fellow Sueyeon Lee received the Health Promoting Behaviors Across the Lifespan Research and Implementation Interest Group (RIIG) Early Career Award in recognition of her career potential in nursing science. Lee studies sleep as a health-promoting behavior within cardiovascular nursing science.
Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Ginger Schroers received a Distinguished Abstract Award for her poster, “Development and Testing of an Objective Measure of Medication Administration Competency.” Schroers is investigating an interruption management strategy called Stay SAFE, which aims to improve patient safety in health care settings.
“We’re proud of Drs. Lee and Schroers for their exceptional research, which is receiving well-deserved attention at a national level,” said Professor Todd Ruppar, associate dean for research and scholarly innovation. “Their work, and that of our entire research team, exemplifies our focus on innovative nursing science with real-world impact.”
