Dr. Solari-Twadell's research activities include community based health promotion and disease prevention nursing research focused on innovative nursing roles. Past research emphasized Lourdes Service Immersion outcomes, faith community nursing, the most commonly used and essential nursing interventions along with information related to size of faith community, location of faith community, size of faith community and organizational structure supporting the faith community nurse. More recently, research interests are centered on development of education for undergraduate nurses on integration of social determinants of health into acute care nursing, preparing nursing students to practice in primary care nursing with the underserved. These works and related research projects are funded by grants. Four year Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) grants have resulted in increased clinical sites for undergraduate nursing students. Community based partners in this grant work include ACCESS Community Network, Hines Veterans Administration, Red Cloud School, Indian Health Services, Pine Ridge South Dakota, Gordon Memorial Critical Access Hospital, Gordon, Nebraska and Loyola University Chicago Trinity Network. Dr. Solari-Twadell teaches courses across the nursing curriculum.
