Leesa Strickland, DNP, RNC-NIC

Clinical Assistant Professor


Dr. Leesa Strickland joined the MNSON in 2018. She received her BSN from Loyola University Chicago, MSN with a focus on nursing education from Lewis University, and DNP in Systems Leadership from Loyola University Chicago. She uses active learning strategies in the classroom to assist students in critical thinking and problem solving while using the nursing process and clinical judgement model as a guide. She maintains nursing certification in neonatal nursing.

Research Interests

Dr. Strickland's interests include student success with foundational nursing skills and education. Practice interests include breastfeeding success that begins in the neonatal environment and continues upon infant discharge to home. Other practice interests include interventions to reduce disease processes that are prevalent today that have long lasting health care needs for the population.
