Professor Cunha Silva's research examines representation and electoral politics, seeking to understand why certain groups are underrepresented in public office and how electoral rules impact voter and elite behavior. His work has been published in the Journal of Politics, the British Journal of Political Science, and other outlets. His co-authored book, Electoral System Incentives for Interparty and Intraparty Politics, is published by Oxford University Press.
