Jennifer J. Griffin

Raymond C. Baumhart, S.J., Professor of Business Ethics

Dr. Jennifer (Jenn) J. Griffin is the Raymond C. Baumhart, S.J. Endowed Chair in Business Ethics at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. Inspired by the pioneering footsteps of Fr. Ray Baumhart, her research explores how organizations can build ethical, intentional practices to address critical social issues—treating people with dignity and decency at the core.

An internationally recognized scholar and educator, Dr. Griffin is the author of the award-winning Managing Corporate Impacts: Co-Creating Value (Cambridge University Press), which received the Best Book Award from the Academy of Management’s Social Issues in Management (SIM) Division. Her research has also earned the “Best Business & Society Paper in 20 Years” award and the inaugural CBPA Social Impact Research Award.

Dr. Griffin’s interdisciplinary scholarship is widely published in journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Business & Society, Public Administration Review, Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Management Studies, Corporate Reputation Review, and others. She has also contributed to numerous books and case studies, including chapters in the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (UN PRME) series, The Accountable Corporation, and Doing Well by Doing Good.

She serves as Associate Editor of Business & Society and the Journal of Public Affairs, and sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Business Ethics and Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility.

Dr. Griffin has received several teaching honors, including the Teaching Excellence Award, the MBA Teaching Award, and recognition as a finalist for the Aspen Institute’s Faculty Pioneer Award. She is especially proud of two student-nominated awards: the National Inspire Integrity Award and a nomination for Loyola’s highest teaching honor, the St. Ignatius of Loyola Excellence in Teaching Award.

She is a Fellow of the International Association for Business and Society (IABS), a past president of the Academy of Management’s SIM Division, former executive director of IABS, and a former engineer at GE. She currently serves on the Keep America Beautiful Board and Chicago’s Corporation Coalition.

Dr. Griffin and her husband are certified (currently inactive) firefighters in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They enjoy cooking and meaningful conversations with their two adult sons and their partners.
