Brian Shoup
Lecturer of Accounting and Business Law
Brian has taught undergraduate and graduate business courses at Loyola University Chicago since 2022.
Prior to joining Quinlan, he spent 25 years at Abbott Laboratories in various management and executive roles, primarily in finance. Before retiring in 2019, he led the integration of Abbott’s $25 billion acquisition of St. Jude Medical, a global medical device company with more than 19,000 employees. Earlier in his career at Abbott, he served as divisional vice president of global finance operations, overseeing a team of approximately 1,500 professionals across 70 countries responsible for Abbott’s key accounting and finance functions.
Brian joined Abbott in 1994 and held finance leadership positions as controller or finance director in Hungary, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany. Prior to his work at Abbott, he was an auditor with Price Waterhouse (now PwC) in Chicago.
He is a certified public accountant and serves as a board member and seasonal volunteer income tax preparer with LadderUp. Additionally, he is a licensed private pilot.
