Alyssa Burns

Adjunct Instructor


Alyssa has a successful career in the marketing, communications, and public relations business, with experience at the top global PR firm Edelman Worldwide, and the Fortune 100 company Kraft Foods. She is the president of Alyssa Burns Communications where she works with a wide range of clients.
Alyssa's expertise spans writing and strategy across key areas, including crisis communications, thought leadership, messaging, website and social media content.
She is a highly rated Adjunct Professor in the SOC and was honored as First Runner-Up for the prestigious Part-Time Faculty Teaching Award in 2022, one of the highest recognitions from her peers. The award recognizes Alyssa's commitment to going ‘above and beyond’ to meet the needs of her students.
Additionally, Alyssa served as President of the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago (PWCC), where she co-chaired the Mentorship Program and continues to support professionals in their career growth.
She loves teaching at Loyola!
Alyssa grew up in a family of journalists. This piqued her interest in learning as much as she could about any topic that interested her; the arts, music, sports, travel, business; you name it, she wanted to learn about it. She loves to travel and is a travel adventurer. Alyssa's favorite quote is by philosopher St. Augustine: "The world is a book. Those who do not travel read only a page."
