Chad Vandewiele
Adjunct Instructor
Chad Van de Wiele is an interdisciplinary scholar, writer, and educator whose research broadly examines the relationship between technology, society, and knowledge/power. He joined the School of Communication in January 2020 and has taught courses on digital communication, media ethics, and social change, among others.
Chad received his BA in Public Relations from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and his MA in Communication Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago, and he is currently completing his PhD in Communication Studies, with a concentration in Black Studies, at UIC. He previously served as a Fellow of the National Science Foundation–IGERT program on Electronic Security and Privacy at UIC, and a Visiting Faculty Researcher at the Digital Studies Institute at the University of Michigan. He is a past affiliate with the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life at the University of North Carolina and a former Assistant Editor of New Media & Society.
