Class Visits and Instruction

The Loyola Archives and Special Collections serves as a learning lab for students to engage in a hands-on experience with archival materials and develop skills in using primary sources. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with faculty members on developing instruction sessions and projects for their classes. Please contact Kathy Young, University Archivist, at kyoung3@luc.edu if you would like to schedule a class session at the Loyola Archives and Special Collections.

The Planning Process

  • Requests should be submitted a minimum of three weeks in advance of the class. Priority is given to requests submitted prior to the start of the semester.
  • Faculty members are requested to provide a class syllabus and/or a description of the class assignment.
  • Archives and Special Collections staff will meet with faculty members to discuss the goals for the class visit/assignment. Materials will be discussed and selected during this meeting.
