Programs and Initiatives
Programs and Initiatives
The Center for Student Inclusion and Belonging (CSIB) seeks to enhance the experience of all members of the Loyola community by way of our Jesuit mission through facilitating intentional reflection of the intersections of identities and critical social analysis of systems of privilege and oppression. This goal is accomplished through various programs and initiatives, including but not limited to, community building, mentorship, education, access, and celebration.
All programs and initiatives are open to all Ramblers regardless of religion, race, color, sex, gender, or sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
Cultural Initiatives
The Center offers programs, events, and practices to celebrate, educate, and build community across different identities and lived experiences. These efforts serve as the heartbeat of belonging work by providing spaces where students see themselves reflected, learn about others, and practice solidarity.
MOSAIC Initiatives
MOSAIC Initiatives celebrate, affirm, and inform all Ramblers while recognizing and supporting diverse cultural experiences. Rooted in learning, growth, education, and celebration, MOSAIC fosters identity exploration, cultural pride, wellness, and advocacy through programming that creates meaningful experiences and self-education that deepens cultural understanding. Through intentional outreach and support, students build connections, navigate college life, and engage in continuous learning while mapping who we are, where we've been, and where we belong.
LGBTQIA+ Initiatives
LGBTQIA+ Initiatives provides spaces and programs to validate and affirm all orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, lack thereof, or combination of any of those social identities.
Womxn’s Initiatives
Womxn’s Initiatives, also known as Loyola University Chicago Empowering Sisterhood (LUCES), offer a suite of engagement opportunities for any students interested in the support of self-identified womxn experiences.
Leadership Education and Development Program
The Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program is a social justice cohort-based program that aims to cultivate students’ leadership skills and capacities. The program centers equity-assets based approaches to skill development and application and seeks to provide alternatives to toxic leadership models. Students in the cohort model can expect to identify and develop their leadership styles and goals, build community through team meetings, develop service-learning projects, and gain tangible skills and knowledge about salient equity and justice topics.
Social Justice and Anti-Hate Workshops and Trainings
Our center provides a suite of workshops and trainings that student communities and organizations can request, that dive into various topics within the realm of social justice and anti-hate. We also have the ability to customize trainings and workshops to fit the needs of students.
STARS
The Students Together Are Reaching Success (STARS) mentorship program pairs first-year students with experienced upper-division mentors for both individual and group mentoring. While centering the experiences of first generation college, low income, undocumented, and immigrant students, STARS offers all first-year students with the support, resources, and tools to navigate the academic, co-curricular, personal, and social rigors of college and build the necessary knowledge and skills to map out their personal path to success throughout their college years.
Monarch Initiatives
Monarch Initiatives is a campus-wide initiative designed to foster community, build awareness on issues related to migrant student experiences, including but not limited to undocumented, DACA, immigrant, and mixed status experiences, and empower students to live out our Jesuit values.
STEP
STEP is a cohort-based transition program that centers equity-assets based approaches to skill development and seeks to amplify the skills and lived experiences participants already possess.
