RESEARCH INTERESTS

The encompassing theme of my research involves sexual reproduction and the exploration of the distinct molecular mechanisms that differentiate it from asexual reproduction. To accomplish this, my lab uses an interdisciplinary approach that combines classical molecular genetics techniques, omics, and computational tools to further characterize sexual reproduction landmarks. These include sexual determination, dosage compensation, and asymmetric organelle inheritance, for which we employ nematodes (Caenorhabditis elegans) and fungal phytopathogens (Ustilaginomycetes).
