Accelerated Master's Pathway (AMP)

The Accelerated Master's Pathway (AMP) program enables high achieving undergraduate students to begin fulfilling requirements for a CJC master's degree while completing the bachelor's degree. The program is designed so that students may complete the CJC MA degree in one year after graduating with their bachelor's degree rather than the traditional two years of study. In the CJC AMP program, Loyola undergraduate students will take more challenging courses during their senior year of study and complete the MA degree in their 5th year at Loyola. Successful students have broader career opportunities--many of our graduates go on to become data analysts, criminal investigators, or agents with city, county, state, and federal agencies. Others go on to further their education in law school or PhD programs.

Loyola undergraduates with an overall GPA of 3.5 should apply for the CJC AMP program in their junior year. Students in this program will take 4 graduate (400 level) courses in their senior year that will count toward both their bachelor's degree and their CJC MA degree. CJC undergraduate majors should save CJC electives so that the graduate-level courses can count as electives in the CJC major. Non-CJC majors should save four free electives. Thus, 12 hours (or 13 hours if CJC 404 is taken as a senior) of the 30-hour MA degree can be completed during a student's senior year of the undergraduate degree. Students, after graduating with their bachelor's degree, will take the remaining 6 courses as a full-time graduate student during their fifth year at Loyola.
