Academic Misconduct
Academic integrity is the pursuit of scholarly activity in an open, honest, and responsible manner. Academic integrity is a guiding principle for all academic activity at Loyola University Chicago, and all members of the University community are expected to act in accordance with this principle. The Department of Engineering follows the Department of Philosophy guidelines for reporting and appealing academic misconduct:

All major assignments ( >10%), including papers, essays, and other written documents, will be checked through Turnitin for similarity and AI-generated content on Sakai, as outlined below:
- If a high similarity is flagged on Sakai by Turnitin, you will be required to revise and resubmit the assignment to meet the allowed percentage in order to receive full credit.
- If AI-generated content is detected and exceeds 20%, the work will be considered plagiarism, and the student will be reported for academic misconduct to the Dean's Office in accordance with Loyola's Academic Integrity policy on the use of AI.
