Student Bar Association (SBA)
The SBA executive board serves as a liaison between students and administration. Every law student at LUC Law is part of the SBA as its executive board represents the student body. Previous advocacy work includes:
- Writing student letters advocating for transparency and communication
- Forming a Budget Committee to allocate student development funds
- Bringing in Summer U-Passes for students enrolled in summer classes
- Revamping our 7th-floor student lounge to create a more relaxing, comfortable space
- Interviewing new administration, faculty, and staff candidates
The SBA, like other student-led organizations, provides resources through social, networking, and other events in efforts to develop LUC law students professionally and personally. We work collaboratively and closely with not just student leaders and administration, but other entities that could provide guidance to our law students. The SBA also facilitates social and charitable activities that encourage perspective and balance in a law student's otherwise busy life. On top of selling official LUC Law merch, the SBA hosts other events including:
- Annual Fall Celebration – past venues include Shore Club and the Boat Cruise
- Annual Barrister’s Ball – past venues include the Chicago Cultural Center, Navy Pier, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and more
- Annual Hunger Week
- Annual Student Activities Fairs
- Annual Student Leadership Workshop
- Bi-Semester Club Congresses
- Coffee in the Law Library
- Mental Health Week
- Weekly Bar Reviews
- Dress for Success: Professional Clothing Drive
- Wellness Wednesdays
- Dean’s Roundtables (similar to Town Halls)
- Food Fundraisers – past locations include Jeni’s Ice Cream and Chipotle
