Summer Book Club: The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything
The book club is tailored to employees who are relatively new to Loyola (three years or less). The book is The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything, A Spirituality for Real Life, by Fr. James Martin, SJ. The book is an insightful and engaging look at the foundation of Loyola’s Jesuit spirituality and how it can be engaged personally and professionally. As Fr. Martin notes, “You don’t have to be Catholic, Christian, religious or even spiritual to benefit from some of the insights of St. Ignatius of Loyola”. The single criterion for our gathering is intellectual curiosity about the tradition, the spirituality, and the worldview that animates Loyola. This is also a great way to get to know other Loyolans outside your area.
The book is provided free and the club will meet once on each campus (June 17 at LSC & WTC and June 18 at HSC). The sessions will be open discussion and shared perspectives. To learn more, please contact Lauren Schwer.
November Book Club
Each year during Ignatian Heritage Month, employees are invited to join a book club. Each year a different book is selected based on the theme, community’s needs, and what will be most relevant to our group.
