Happy World Quantum Day! Please read through the newsletter for information about lab assistantships (LAs) in the fall, class registration, scholarships and several events to finish up the school year.
Congratulations
- The Society for Women in Physics has elected their new officers! Congratulations to Ava Berios (President), Sofia Soto (VP), Elena Yacoben (Secretary), Alex McClure (Treasurer), and Ella Bricker (Outreach Liaison)!! You can keep up with Women in Physics here.
Department Information
- Students interested in working as a Lab Assistant (LA) for PHYS 111L in the fall, the application portal has now opened. You can apply here. Please email Izzy Moore (cmoore12@luc.edu) if you have any questions.
- Fall registration has started. Please contact your Physics Faculty Advisor or Brian Cannon (bcannon1@luc.edu) if you have any questions regarding courses or degree plans. For the fall semester, the Physics Department is offering the following courses:
PHYS 121/111L College Physics I with Calculus and Lab
PHYS 235/235L Modern Physics and Lab
PHYS 303/303L Electronics and Lab
PHYS 328 Thermal Physics
PHYS 351 Electricity and Magnetism
- Apply for Scholarships - Physics students are encouraged to apply for the Physics Scholarship, Karnezis Research Scholarship and the Charles S. Lafkas Scholarship. Applications are due by June 1.
Department Events
- Freshman Project (PHYS 126F) presentations will be this Friday (April 17th) at 4:15 PM in Room 200. All students are invited to attend to see all of the great projects.
- Physics Club will be holding their Spring Fling on Friday, April 24th at 4:00 on Cudahy Third Floor. Tacos, Jeopardy, Karaoke!!! All students are invited!!! You can keep up with Physics Club here.
- All graduating students in physics (majors and minors) are invited to attend the Graduation Luncheon on Wednesday April 29th at 12 PM. Please let Matt Orvin (morvin@luc.edu) know that you will be attending.
