Saturday of Service

Another Successful Year!

Every year on the Saturday before classes begin, new Ramblers join CSA student leaders and volunteers to serve the neighborhood by gardening, painting, cleaning, and helping out! This is a Welcome Week tradition that every new student is encouraged to experience! Saturday of Service is also a great way to meet your fellow students and learn about how to get involved here on campus. In 2025, over 400 students joined us to serve with 18 sites in 4 local neighborhoods and on campus. This is the perfect way to live out Loyola's mission and be a person for and with others before you even begin classes.

And thanks to our student leaders who make Saturday of Service possible! CSA's leaders and Welcome Week leaders are amazing!

We'll be back in 2026! For any incoming students wanting to know what you can expect next fall, here are some details:

What should I know before coming? Volunteers should be prepared to do manual labor outside; wear an outfit you don't mind getting a little dirty and check the weather before coming. Please wear closed toed shoes and bring your own reusable water bottle. Doors open at 9:30am. The event is first come first serve and the first 200 volunteers will get a free T-Shirt! Arrive no later than 10am to be placed in a group. Location will be updated next fall.

Under 18? We'll have a parent/guardian waiver you can sign in advance.

Mobility needs? We are able to accommodate volunteers with a range of abilities; when you arrive, please let us know if there are any considerations we should know before assigning you to a site. Please email us in advance with any questions!
