ASPIRE
Academic Summer Program Integrating Resources For Excellence
ASPIRE is an intensive pre-medical program held during the month of June, designed to holistically prepare you to successfully navigate the medical school application process. Our curriculum will help you strengthen your application, deepen your understanding of health disparities, build your capacity for health equity leadership, and introduce you to the community of Maywood, IL.
The core of the ASPIRE program focuses on:
- Dynamic learning environment within a diverse cohort
- Faculty, staff, and medical student mentorship
- Expert instruction and advising
- Strong, experiential learning opportunities
- Mission-centric focus aimed at exploring health justice issues and cultivating advocacy skills
- Transformative personal and professional leadership curriculum
- Dedicated time to work on your application
Summer 2026 Program Information
May 27, 2026 - June 26, 2026
Enrollment for the program is capped at 16 students. We encourage you to participate in the program the year before you plan to apply to medical school (i.e., ASPIRE 2026 is geared toward people planning to apply in the summer of 2027).
ASPIRE participants are provided a $1,200 stipend and housing for the duration of the program. Daily meals and transportation to & from the Health Sciences Campus are also provided on weekdays.
Program Highlights
- Shadowing opportunities with Loyola physicians and an introduction to clinical skills
- Service experiences with community partners
- One-on-one mentoring from a current Stritch student as well as admissions staff
- AMCAS application guidance including workshops on personal statements, supplemental and experience section writing, and soliciting strong letters of recommendation
- Interview skills practice, including a mock interview with an admissions committee member
- Mock selection committee meeting to better understand the admissions process
- Workshops exploring health disparities and access to healthcare
- Intensive personal and leadership development curriculum designed to bolster capacity for self-awareness, empathy, and cultural competency
