Recommended updates to the Operational Subcommittee
Change the name from the BUS/GSCB Operational Subcommittee to Operational Subcommittee
A. Charge
As a body representing all operational areas within Academic Affairs responsible for implementing proposals after review and approval, the operational subcommittee reviews proposals after they have been approved by a Dean and before they are reviewed by subsequent governing and administrative bodies outlined in the Chart of Reviews and Approvals for Academic Matters (i.e., the Chart). The committee focuses on Policy Alignment and Viability. The committee also reviews proposals for accuracy and completeness and considers operational issues that may arise as a result of the proposal. At times, the committee’s feedback concerning policy alignment, viability, and/or the operational issues may be deemed substantial enough that the proposal cannot be sent forward in the process, and it is returned to the Dean for further consideration.
B. Process
Proposals must be received by the deadlines posted on the website to ensure timely review. Review outside of the typical meeting cycle is handled on a case-by-case basis, as capacity allows. The subcommittee Chair provides feedback on the proposal. Feedback must be addressed before the proposal can move forward in the review process. Revisions must be received at least one week prior to review at the next level specified in the Chart as sometimes additional clarification is needed.
C. Membership
- Vice Provost, Academic Programs and Planning (Chair)
- Associate Provost, Academic Records and Processes
- Associate Provost, Assessment, Accreditation and Academic Regulatory Compliance
