GM Leonard Labar (AA '23)

Major: Associate of Arts in Social & Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice
High School: Amundsen High School

Hello! My name is GM Leonard Labar. I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.

How I chose my degree:
I choose this degree because I'm extremely passionate when it comes to ways in improving my community. I think I can do a lot with this degree not just giving back to my community. Obtaining this degree can assist me in planning various ways I can contribute back to society.

My plans after graduation:
I've planned on continuing my education at Loyola University Chicago where I'll attain my Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Business Administration.

Professor a new student should absolutely take a class with:
One professor I would absolutely recommend taking is Dr. O'Brien. He's the professor that had helped me improved my writing skills. Transitioning from high school to college, I had a difficult time writing papers, however it'd all change when I took Dr. O'Brien's writing class.

Favorite spot on campus:
My favorite place on campus is the Lewis Library in the Corboy Law Center. This library has three floors from the 6th to the 9th floor. I spent a lot of time in this library where it had become my go to spot when it comes to studying for an exam/finals or writing major papers.

Best thing I've done since coming to Arrupe:
The best things I've done since coming to Arrupe is building relationship with staff and faculty. They're very helpful when it comes to assisting a student's personal and academic needs.

Some surprisingly cool things about Arrupe:
The endless support they provide for students such as internships, scholarships, and jobs. They make sure that each students has what they need to succeed.
