Julissa Vazquez (AA '25)

Major: Associate of Arts in Social & Behavioral Sciences, Psychology
High School: Lane Tech
Involvements: President for Arrupe FC (soccer club) and Secretary of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

Hello! My name is Julissa Vazquez, and I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.

How I chose my degree:
I had a high fascination with human behavior, and my interest in psychology only increased once I took a psychology class in my senior year of high school. I decided I would go to Arrupe to earn my AA Social and Behavioral Sciences in Psychology!

My plans after graduation:
I will be continuing at Loyola University Chicago.

What class did you never expect to love? What was great about it?
Dr. Ochoa’s American Government class was one class I did not expect at all to have such a fun time learning, and so much of what she had taught had stuck with me, even now with our current politics. It’s her sense of humor that made it interesting to learn about our government.

Where is your favorite place on Loyola's campus and why?
Schreiber is my favorite building on the campus, especially the 4th and 10th floors, because it is a nice and quiet place for me to do my homework. It also had a very pretty view, so it was a very nice place for students to lounge around in between classes.

What are some surprisingly cool things about Arrupe?
The Arrupe Food Market is essential. I grab my necessities from there, and it is nice that I could depend on something like the Market. I also think it’s very cool how many resources Arrupe has for students, like calculators and books!
