Br. Bobby Nichols, SJ
Chaplain
Br. Bobby Nichols, SJ, serves as a chaplain in Campus Ministry at Loyola University Chicago, where he accompanies students in faith, community, and personal growth. A Louisville, Kentucky native, Bobby first encountered the Jesuits while studying Theology and Peace Studies at Xavier University. He later earned a Master’s in Theology and Ministry with an emphasis in Education and a Certificate in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Villanova University.
Before entering the Society of Jesus in 2023, Bobby taught Theology and served as the director of retreat at Saint Xavier High School (Louisville), his alma mater, and later became rector of Keenan Hall at the University of Notre Dame. His Jesuit formation has included ministry on the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation, nurse aid at a Jesuit Infirmary, and jail ministry in Minneapolis.
Bobby is a “glass-full” kind of guy who enjoys bringing energy and positivity to those around him. An avid walker and hiker, he has twice completed the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. He also proudly holds the titles of Kentucky Colonel and is an official Duke of Hazard.
