The Loyola University Chicago community mourns the death of Raymond Tatalovich, PhD, professor emeritus in the College of Arts and Sciences, who passed away on June 21, at the age of 79.

Tatalovich joined Loyola’s political science faculty in 1978 and taught full-time until 2017 before transitioning to a professor emeritus role. During his Loyola tenure, he also served as the director for the center for urban policy from 1980-88. Tatalovich’s teaching and research interests included American government, the presidency and executive branch, public policy analysis with an emphasis on moral conflicts, and Congress as well as Canadian Politics. He was the author or coauthor of 17 books and numerous journal articles.

His colleagues will remember him for his humor and his unwavering support of junior faculty members and graduate students.

Tatalovich is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne Tatalovich. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
