Who we are and how to join us

The lab is currently composed of faculty-members, graduate students, and undergraduate students from Loyola as well as from other universities.

Loyola University Chicago lab members:

  • Dr. Alexandru Grigorescu, Professor, Director, CIDI Lab
  • Naida Softic, Doctoral Student
  • Marísila Carolina Aguiar da Silva, Doctoral Student
  • Joquebedi Santos de Campos, Doctoral Student
  • Benjamin Braun, undergraduate student (summer and fall 2025)
  • Abby Lawton, undergraduate student (summer and fall 2025)

External partners:

  • Dr. Michael Bauer, Professor, European University Institute
  • Alicen Ashley, undergraduate student, Elon University (summer 2025)
  • Daniel Tetteh,  undergraduate student, Rollins College (summer 2025)

We welcome all Loyola students, both undergraduate and graduate, to apply to become part of the CIDI lab, regardless of their current knowledge of international relations and international organizations. The lab format allows all students involved in our research to interact with each other and with faculty and learn about the research topics, the methods used, and, more broadly, about conducting research in the social sciences. Students involved in our work have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, conference presentations, and publications. Depending on the exact project they work on, they will assemble annotated bibliographies, sift through archival documents, help develop datasets, and contribute to writing papers with the results of our research. We try to match students with the project they are most interested in and encourage them to bring their own ideas to the table.

If you are interested in learning more about the lab or applying to join it, please contact Dr. Grigorescu at agrigor@luc.edu
