Humanities and Social Sciences PhD Career Cohort

This cohort was developed for PhD students seeking more intensive non-academic career preparation. This four-part series is designed to help you make confident decisions about your professional future by linking your values, interests, and strengths to specific careers and preparing to connect with practitioners in those industries. Build a collection of resources and documents that can be used to inform a full-time job search.

Session Schedule

Session 1 - March 27: Identifying Your Skills & Interests (Granada Ctr. – W Conference Rm. 291, LSC, snacks provided)  11:00AM – 12:30PM 

Session 2 - April 10: Exploring Your Career Path(s) 11:00AM – 12:00PM

Session 3 - April 17: Researching Organizations & Building Connections 11:00AM – 12:00PM

Session 4 - April 24: Identifying a Career Pathway - Presentation Day  11:00AM – 12:30PM

Sign Up Dates and Other Information

  • Cohort Sign Up Dates February 27 – March 25. Register here
  • First Session Address – 6439 N Sheridan Rd., 2nd Fl, LSC
  • Brief evaluation survey due (Date TBD)
  • Registration is limited to 25

 Sign Up Process and Requirements:

  • You must be a currently enrolled PhD student to join
  • You must be a student in the Humanities (Theology, Philosophy, History, English) or Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science) Disciplines
  • Agree to participate in at least 3 sessions (including 1st session)
