FAQ
Do Business Honors graduates receive a different degree than other business school graduates?
Yes (sort of). Business Honors graduates receive a separate distinction on their degrees designating that they are also an “Honors” program graduate. For example, a finance major graduating from Business Honors will receive a degree distinction of “Bachelor of Business Administration, Honors, in Finance” instead of “Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.” In other words, our Business Honors graduates receive a “BBA Honors” degree in their major.
How do you join the Business Honors program?
You initially must apply and be admitted to the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago. Then applications to our Business Honors program are by invitation.
Based on academic merit, certain applicants who have been offered admission to the Quinlan School of Business will also receive an invitation to apply to the Quinlan School of Business Honors program. This invitation will arrive in the spring to your Loyola student portal, where you can then apply to Business Honors via application and essay submission. If you do not receive an invitation to apply, please contact our program director at BusinessHonors@LUC.edu to discuss your candidacy for the program.
Can you join our Business Honors program as a sophomore?
Yes. While most of our Business Honors students join our program as incoming freshmen, we do sometimes offer admission to a few additional students after their freshman year (during the summer prior to their sophomore year).
Do Business Honors students still complete the same requirements for their major?
Yes, the major requirements are still the same for Business Honors students as other business students.
Can Business Honors students double major?
Yes, Business Honors students can double major (or even triple major), and many do.
Can Business Honors students study abroad?
Yes, Business Honors students can study abroad, and many do. Most Business Honors students who study abroad do so during either the spring of their sophomore year (most common) or the fall of their junior year.
Is Quinlan’s Business Honors program part of Loyola’s Interdisciplinary Honors program?
No. Our Business Honors program is Quinlan’s own business-specific Honors program that is entirely separate and distinct from the University-wide Interdisciplinary Honors program. We have no affiliation or involvement with the University’s Interdisciplinary Honors program.
