Is there a best date for students to attend: The program runs year-round, but the best months are from April to October, when the climate is pleasant and Kutaisi is at its most welcoming—offering students the chance to explore the region’s historical sites, mountains, and local cuisine alongside their clinical work.

Description:

Course Information/Description: 

Language Requirement:  English. All supervising physicians and departments involved in the elective program are proficient in English. Many have received international training or fellowships and are accustomed to working with international students and colleagues.

Clinical Landscape: Krystyna Kiel Oncology Center (KONC) is a leading regional cancer center and a flagship institution in western Georgia. It provides a full spectrum of oncology care across medical, radiation, and surgical services. Students will gain exposure to both inpatient and outpatient oncology care, including:

  • Multidisciplinary tumor boards
  • Chemotherapy and immunotherapy infusion units
  • Inpatient oncology ward
  • Radiation therapy planning and treatment (LINAC-based)

While the focus is oncology, students will gain broader clinical exposure to internal medicine subspecialties, symptom management, and decision-making in resource-limited settings.
