| Description: |
This elective is an observership and an introduction to medical imaging. It is intended for both students planning to pursue residencies in radiology as well as students planning to pursue residencies in other fields. Students are exposed to a variety of imaging modalities, including CT, ultrasound, MRI, plain film, nuclear medicine and special procedures. Appropriate indications for ordering imaging studies, integration of imaging in patient care, basic interpretive skills, and observation of procedures will be covered. Instructional methods include participation in daily reading sessions with Radiology faculty, residents and fellows, daily departmental educational conferences, medical student lectures, teaching files, and web-based educational materials. |
| Method of Evaluation: |
Students will be assessed on daily reading session participation, lecture and conference attendance, pre-test and post-test scores, assigned module completion, and teaching case presentation. Grading scale: H/HP/P/F |
