Hiring Freelancers

Campus partners who are interested in hiring marketing/communications professionals are encouraged to use freelancers from these vetted lists when possible. All freelancers, listed here or otherwise, are expected to follow University policies, guidelines, and standards as outlined throughout this website.

What types of freelancers does UMC have access to?

  • Copy Editors/Proofreaders
  • Designers
  • Illustrators
  • Photographers
  • Videographers
  • Web Developers
  • Writers

For a complete list of vetted freelancers in any of these areas, please email UMC@LUC.edu. The freelancers listed have previously worked with UMC. This list is provided as a resource for campus partners; however, UMC does not endorse or guarantee the quality of their work. Campus partners are solely responsible for managing the engagement and ensuring the quality of all deliverables.

What will it cost?

Discuss your budget with the freelancer and their rates to land on a price before the project starts.

How do they get paid?

Prior to signing a working agreement, connect with your department’s business manager to ensure the necessary paperwork is completed. Once the job is finished, the freelancer should send you an invoice. Please share the invoice with your department business manager, who will provide guidance on processing the payment.

When will I receive my content?

Talk to the freelancer up front about their timeline and your expectations, such as whether you need time to review/approve the deliverables. If you have an immediate need you may need to ask for a rush of deliverables.

How will I get my content?

Ask the freelancer about their preferred method of file sharing. Some send a secure link through Yousendit, Dropbox, or another file sharing service, or you may request that the deliverables be sent on a thumb drive.

The deliverables are ready, now what?

UMC reserves the right to review creative materials prior to being officially published to ensure they adhere to Loyola’s brand standards. Please submit a consultation request through the UMC Request Intake Form
