Study Abroad

There are many opportunities to study abroad while at Loyola. However, there are stipulations to using GI Bill benefits while doing so. Please see below for the different ways to use your VA education benefit while studying abroad:

  1. John Felice Rome Center: If studying abroad at the Rome Center, VA education benefits may be utilized as normal and should follow the same certification process.
  2. Different VA Approved Institution: If a different VA approved institution such as a different university has a study abroad program of interest, please connect with that university's School Certifying Official in their Veterans Services office. They will advise you on what their certification process is, and we can assist with a "Parent Institution Letter". Please connect with us for more information.
    • Parent School: Primary school from which the student will earn their degree.
    • Guest School: School in which student is enrolled to take courses which will satisfy requirements at the primary school.
    • Parent Letter: Confirmation sent to guest school from parent school that credits taken during program are transferable and acceptable in the student's degree program.
  3. Third-Party Company: If using a third-party company that organizes study abroad programs, VA education benefits cannot be used due to the fact the company is not a VA approved location.
