TeachNOW

Developing Future Teachers from Within

TeachNOW is focused on supporting career pathway curricula for high school students interested in the teaching profession, providing opportunities for students to begin their college-level teacher preparation coursework as seniors in high school.  It would function much like various career pathway programs for pre-health students and aligns quite well with the existing teacher prep courses you offer.

For Students: For Districts:
  • Two dual-credit education courses taught by school staff that would include hands-on field experiences with local schools, along with possible additional dual credit offerings for core requirements
  • Early admission to Loyola's undergraduate Teacher Preparation Program & advising through Loyola
  • Decreased course costs and greater accessibility to a 4-year college pathway
  • Teacher Licensure and ESL endorsement upon graduation
  • More time and opportunity to adjust to the college experience for increased success
  • Larger and more diversified pool of teacher candidates for future vacancies
  • Teacher candidates with over 1200 field hours or experience who are familiar with the community and district
  • ESL endorsed candidates across all subjects who are representative of district students and families
  • Opportunities to connect with candidates as student teachers for increased guidance and mentoring

Supporting School Leaders

Our goal is to offer current teachers and staff increased opportunities for continued education and growth as community leaders among new educators.  With this in mind, as part of the TeachNOW initiative, we are committed to offering all district faculty and staff:

  • Significant tuition scholarships for select masters/doctoral programs
  • 50% tuition scholarships for the SOE online/asynchronous ESL endorsement certificate program

Pathway to Partnership

  • Connect with school/district administrators to identify dual course offerings, program timeline and logistics
  • Share program materials with student/families/counselors ahead of registration for next school year
  • Host student/families for Community Educator Reception
  • Register students for Fall Courses for program launch
