Maribel Lopez, Ed.D., MSW

Online Bilingual MSW Assistant Director; Clinical Associate Professor


Dr. Maribel López earned her Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from National Louis University in Chicago, where her doctoral research focused on Latinas in Higher Education. In collaboration with colleagues, she developed an innovative theatrical performance to present the research findings, bridging scholarship and creative expression. She also holds a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Children and Families from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
With experience in counseling children, families, couples, individuals, and youth, Dr. López integrates academic expertise with hands-on practice. Her work extends beyond clinical settings into the community, where she is actively engaged in education and advocacy on women’s empowerment, early childhood education, substance abuse, and domestic violence.

In 1998, Dr. López co-founded Latina Child Care Providers in Action (LCCPIA), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering economic development within the Latina community. Her leadership and vision have empowered countless women to pursue education, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.
