Undergraduate Degrees

Your Journey Starts Here

The BSW program promotes the Jesuit, Catholic values of social justice, care of the person, and dedicated service to others. It also promotes respect for human diversity and cultivates the knowledge, values, and skills necessary to provide compassionate service to a wide variety of clients in a range of social work roles and organizations

SSW offers two options for undergraduate students:

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

An accredited BSW program with a 100-year history of excellence in social work education, the School of Social Work’s undergraduate program prepares students for rewarding careers in social services, including child welfare, community mental health, drug/alcohol rehabilitation, and developmental disabilities.

Loyola's bachelor’s in social work program offers a unique blend of knowledgeable and experienced faculty, an excellent social work curriculum with a strong liberal arts base, and a wide range of opportunities for internship. At the baccalaureate level, the school prepares students for generalist social work practice.

Students who complete a BSW within the last five years may be eligible for our MSW Advanced Standing program, which offers a streamlined path to earning an MSW.

Social Work Minor

The Social Work minor requires the completion of six courses totaling 18 credit hours. The minor includes courses covering topics such as social work policy, human behavior, and research, combined with two electives.
