Mini Datta, MSW
Director of Internships & Career Services
Mini Datta is currently the Director of Internships & Career Services at Loyola University School of Social Work. She is also an Adjunct Faculty and teaches courses in both the BSW and MSW programs. She is also recently appointed as a BOA member. Prior to joining Loyola University, Mini Datta was an Adjunct Faculty at University of Southern California’s Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work’s Virtual Academic Center for over three years. Mini has significant experience with distance learning and has supported students to successfully navigate internship experience in multiple roles including serving as a field instructor, field liaison, instructor and co-facilitator for Advanced Standing students.
Mini Datta’s leadership roles include local and state participation. Mini Datta participated on The Night Ministry Board of Directors from 2019-2022 and served as Secretary of the Board for two years. Mini Datta co-led from 2022 to 2024 the Illinois Field Director’s Consortium, a strong coalition of Schools of Social Work across the state.
Mini has experience working with community development organizations in the City of Chicago on issues ranging from affordable housing development, welfare to work, education, health and human services. She also has more than a decade of experience working in domestic microfinance with the Opportunity Finance Network in Philadelphia and Credit Builders Alliance in Washington, D.C. in roles ranging from program management to knowledge management to strategic initiatives. Of note, Mini has worked with Native community development finance organizations serving Alaskan, Hawaiian, and Native American populations. She holds a Master of Social Work: Community and Economic Development degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
The social work field internship provides valuable experience for the student and is the vehicle by which theory is put into practice. My goal is to ensure that each student is supported through this process and receives guidance as they determine their career goals within the field of social work.
