Malini Suchak, PhD

Malini Suchak came to Loyola University Chicago as the Dean of the School of Environmental Sustainability in 2025, following the retirement of Founding Dean Nancy Tuchman. Previously, she was Professor and Chair of the Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation Department at Canisius University, a fellow Jesuit institution in Buffalo, NY. Trained in the field of animal behavior (ethology), her current work is focused on the intersection of animal welfare, environmental justice, and racial justice in the food system. In addition to her academic roles, Suchak is a community organizer around issues relating to food justice and has experience with policy advocacy, particularly relating to animal welfare at the local, state, and federal level.
