Welcome From FSYA

Welcome to Loyola!

We are thrilled that you are joining us. As you transition to your first year of college, there is much to be both excited and nervous about. Between now and late August there is a lot to do. The job of the First and Second Year Advising (FSYA) team is to assist you with your academic transition, and we will be with you every step of the way. In the meantime, I wanted to offer some practical advise that will help to set you up for long term success at Loyola:

  1. Check your email regularly and look for messages from both your advisor as well as LUCOAdvising@LUC.edu. You are likely to receive many emails in the coming months, so remember that you can search for these email addresses in your inbox to ensure you have not missed anything.
  2. Watch all of the videos that we share with you. Write down any questions in a notebook (so you do not forget them later) and bring these to your appointments with your advisor for additional assistance.
  3. Complete your pre-registration tasks as soon as you can – don’t procrastinate!
  4. Complete your placement exams with intention and to your highest level of aptitude.
  5. Be curious and ask questions.

The start of college is an incredibly exciting time! Be sure to appreciate these important steps you are taking towards your future career and know that FSYA is here to support you along your journey.

We have an incredible team of advisors to support you this summer. Be sure to learn a bit more about our staff here.

Sincerely,

Chris Sienza, MS
Director, First and Second Year Advising

We work closely with two additional groups who advise the students in their programs. They are:

  • The Student Athlete Advising Team  - This site gives more information about the team who will be supporting incoming student-athletes.
  • The Scholars Program Team – This site gives more information about the team who will be supporting students admitted as ACE Scholars, Arrupe Continuing Scholars, Cristo Rey Scholars, Greer Scholars, Hope Chicago Scholars, Leadership Scholars, and Senn Scholars.
