Enrollment Process

You don’t need to sign up yourself, once they’re accepted and committed to a study abroad program, the Study Abroad Office will automatically enroll you in CISI coverage about one month before your departure.

All students are required to be enrolled in Loyola's mandatory CISI International Travel Insurance plan to study abroad. This cannot be waived unless you can provide proof that you have a plan that is 100% identical in coverage or better than the Loyola CISI insurance plan.

You'll receive your insurance card and policy details in your @luc.edu email at least one week prior to the start of your program. Be on the lookout for a message from the email domain: @culturalinsurance.com.

If you need your insurance documents earlier, please email studyabroad@luc.edu.

How to File a Claim Form

You will receive a claims form in your email from @culturalinsurance.com. This form is what you will use to submit an insurance claim to CISI. To do so, follow these instructions:

  1. Complete and sign the medical claim form for each occurrence, indicating whether the doctor or hospital has been paid.
  2. Attach itemized bills for all amounts claimed. Provide CISI with a copy and keep the originals for yourself.
  3. Approved reimbursements will be paid to the provider of the service unless otherwise indicated.
  4. Submit the claim form and attachments via mail, e-mail, or fax.

Using Your Insurance

You’ll have access to your insurance benefits through the myCISI Traveler App or the myCISI Participant Portal.

You can use these to:

  • Search international healthcare providers (preferred and non-preferred)
  • Preferred is a healthcare provider that CISI has a direct billing agreement with
  • Non-preferred is a healthcare provider in which there will need to be a pay and claim reimbursement
