Study Abroad Alumni

Welcome back to Loyola! The Study Abroad Office (SAO) understands the adjustment process of returning home after being abroad. Fortunately, there are many opportunities both on and off campus to help you continue to relive, process, and reflect on your experience. In addition, there are opportunities to connect with Ramblers who hope to follow in your footsteps. Below you will find information on returning to Chicago following your study abroad experience.

Re-Entry and Alumni Events

International Education Week

During the third week of November, the Office of Global and Community Engagement (OGCE) celebrates International Education Week. This week is packed with opportunities for study abroad alumni to engage with programs and events related to international education. Please visit the OGCE website to learn more, or email studyabroad@luc.edu

Chicago Lessons From Abroad Conference

Every spring semester, Lessons From Abroad – Chicago (LFA – Chicago) hosts a conference called: Chicago Lessons From Abroad. This conference is a great opportunity for study abroad alumni to share their experience and stories, connect with others who have gone abroad, and seek new ways to study, travel, or work abroad again. For more information, email studyabroad@luc.edu, or contact LFA – Chicago directly.

Study Abroad Re-Entry Event

SAO hosts yearly study abroad re-entry events for students who recently returned from studying abroad. Keep an eye on your Loyola email, which is where your official invitation will arrive. Email studyabroad@luc.edu to learn more.

Rome Center Alumni Event

Each fall, Alumni Relations and the Office of Global and Community Engagement host an alumni networking and reflective event for recent alumni and Rome Center alumni who have gone on to have successful careers and opportunities as a result of their study abroad experience at the Rome Center. This popular event will have group discussions and guest panels centered on personal and professional growth and re-adjustment to Loyola and the U.S. Email rome@luc.edu to learn more and subscribe to the Loyola Study Abroad newsletter.

Rome Center Volunteer Opportunities

Once back on campus from Rome, there are a ton of opportunities to relive your experience in Italy, connect with peers who also participated on the program, and talk to perspective students by volunteering with the Study Abroad Office. Some volunteer opportunities include alumni panels, tabling around campus, and more. If you would like more information, contact rome@luc.edu.

Gilman Service Project

Recipients of the Gilman Scholarship host a service project following their return home from studying abroad. The service project ideas are selected by the scholarship recipient and are aimed to help promote study abroad. Be on the look out for service project events on campus, or contact studyabroad@luc.edu to learn more.
