Guest speaker Rachel Young is a PhD student at Loyola University Chicago in the School of Social Work. 

In this SES seminar, Rachel Young will discuss the social and environmental impacts of data center growth. The discussion will also explore how affected communities are addressing these challenges to our built and natural environments.

Guest speaker Rachel Young is a PhD student at Loyola University Chicago in the School of Social Work. Her research applies nexus thinking to understand community responses and resistance to data centers, specifically by examining the interconnectedness found between the social, political, environmental, and economic systems that intersect with data center operations, including connections to the broader global supply chain of the materials they require.
