After a week of sunshine and warm weather in California, we have made it back to the Windy City, where the weather quickly reminds you where you are. Looking back on this experience, I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been selected as a participant, especially as a freshman student who is just beginning my college and career journey. When I first thought about applying, I was unsure if I should, knowing that the program is highly selective. However, I am so glad I did because applying to Quinlan Ramble turned out to be one of the most valuable learning experiences of my college journey so far! Being selected as a participant for this year’s trip was truly an honor, and it allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone and take advantage of opportunities that I might not have experienced otherwise. That being said, if you’re reading this and have any doubts about applying to this program, ABSOLUTELY APPLY! You never know where this experience might take you and what you might learn.
Throughout the week in Los Angeles, we had the opportunity to meet with inspiring Loyola alumni and professionals who shared their career journeys, advice, and lessons they learned along the way. We also visited different companies and workplaces for a tour. These experiences and conversations truly helped me better understand the many different careers that exist within the business path. One of the biggest things I learned is that many successful careers develop through changes, risks, and new opportunities along the way. Most of the professionals we met spoke about their personal unexpected opportunities, career transitions, and the importance of being open to change and growth. Hearing their stories made me feel better and helped me realize that it is okay to still be exploring my interests and figuring out where I want my career to go, especially in business where there are so many different careers one can explore.
Another part of the experience that made the week so meaningful was being around knowledgeable and motivated students who were further along in their academic and professional journeys. Over the week, I was also able to learn so much from them, not only through conversations about internships, classes, and career goals, but also through the advice they shared from their own experiences at Loyola. I was also amazed about how quickly our group grew close together. In just a few days, we built genuine connections that made the entire experience even more memorable and fun!
Overall, this experience helped me better understand the many possibilities within the business world. I feel way more motivated and confident as I continue exploring my own career path. I am very grateful that Loyola provides students with opportunities like the Quinlan Ramble!!
pring break, especially as a senior spring break, and I will remember it forever.
