Day 6 of the Quinlan Ramble started with an early wake up for our visit to financial services firm—D.A. Davidson. There we meet with two investment banking analysts, Bobby Santos and Jeremy Wang. Although Bobby and Jeremy aren’t Loyola alums, they warmly welcomed us into their prestigious offices and gave us a very insightful presentation into the investment banking industry and D.A. Davidson’s role in it. I particularly enjoyed when Bobby gave us some very practical networking and industry advice, reminding us of the importance of being genuine and confident.

After the first visit, we made our way back to Downtown LA as a group. Since we had multiple hours of free time, Jared, EJ, and I took the opportunity to explore some new neighborhoods. We embarked on our signature lime scooters and made our way west. There we encountered the quiet and beautiful Koreatown area of LA, where we had some very traditional Tonkatsu (fried pork plate), which was delicious. As our free time winded down, we headed back towards downtown on our speedy scooters.

To close off the networking portion of the trip, we were invited to the home of prominent Loyola alum, John Dohm. John graciously welcomed us into his beautiful home and together we shared some of LA’s best Italian cuisine. We talked about career paths, lessons gained in industry, and most of all, John’s fascinating travel experiences. John reminded us of the importance of following your passion and staying versatile in an ever-changing corporate world.
