Arts in Society LLC
About Arts in Society
The Arts in Society Living Learning Community offers a space for students to explore an academic and co-curricular interest in the creative arts, broadly defined-including Theater, Visual Arts, Music, and Dance. In addition, in the Jesuit educational tradition, there will be an emphasis on social justice and using the arts to create a more just society. Students who participate will connect with faculty and staff within the Fine Arts discipline as well as participate in programs on campus and larger Chicago arts community.
The Arts in Society LLC is affiliated with the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and Department of Residence Life. This community is open to all first-year residential students who have an interest in the arts. Arts in Society is open to students of all majors.
LLC Outcomes
By the end of the academic year, students participating in the Arts Learning Community will be able to:
- Identify and engage in at least two opportunities per semester designed to facilitate involvement in the creative, fine, and performing arts realm on campus and in greater Chicago.
- Maintain a "toolkit" of ways to maintain connections to the fine and performing arts on campus at Loyola University Chicago.
- Develop a portfolio documenting the suite of involvement in arts and creativity throughout the academic year

Members of this LLC will be automatically enrolled into DANC 121-103 for the Fall semester. For questions, email livelearn@luc.edu.
How to Apply
- Incoming first year, residential students are eligible to participate in the living learning communities
- Students apply through the Housing Application beginning in February
- Students notified of LLC status at the beginning of May

Meet Your LLC Partners
Staff listed below are the current LLC partners for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Nico A. Fech
Resident Director, Simpson Living Learning Center
Resident Directors are live-in professional staff who oversee the residential experience within their respective residential communities. The “RD” supervises Resident Assistants, engages in programmatic efforts, and supports students through student learning, conflict, and concerns. The RD supports the LLC program through programming, collaboration, and as a departmental liaison.

Casey VanWormer
Audience Services Manager, Department of Fine and Performing Arts; LLC Partner, Arts in Society
LLC Partners are Loyola faculty and staff members that primarily coordinate LLC programs and initiatives within the residence hall, on-campus, and in the Chicago area. The LLC Partner is often a liaison between Residence Life and the Department that is affiliated with the LLC.
