Billing and program costs vary by program type. Please see the charts below to understand billing and program costs by program type. Additionally, please visit your individual program’s cost sheet under the Finances tab on the program brochure page and be sure to select the correct term. All students will be registered for study abroad on the following program dates which will coincide with the next e-bill cycle. 

• December 1 for spring/spring break programs 
• April 1 for summer programs 
• July 1 for fall/academic year programs 

Study Abroad Administrative Fee 

All students who have submitted an application are responsible for the Study Abroad Administrative Fee of $200 once accepted. The fee will be posted on the student’s LOCUS account with their e-bill for the term they are studying abroad. The Study Abroad Administrative Fee covers the university’s administrative costs for sending students abroad. This fee is non-refundable unless the program is cancelled, you are denied admission, or put on the waitlist for a selective program option. Students who apply and are accepted by LUC study abroad, but do not meet eligibility requirements of an affiliate partner, may still be responsible for the Study Abroad Administrative Fee. 

Required International Health Insurance 

As a participant on an approved Loyola study abroad program, students are required to enroll in the university's mandatory international health insurance policy, Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI), while abroad. The Study Abroad Office will enroll students automatically in the required medical insurance and charge their LOCUS financial account the CISI Insurance Fee. Insurance fees may not be refundable if withdrawn from the program after the study abroad registration date.  

Affiliate Partner Billing and Fees 

Students who participate on an affiliate program pay tuition, fees, and housing directly to the affiliate partner. Students do not pay Loyola tuition and fees for their term abroad. Students are also required to pay an Affiliate Partner Fee of $1,000 per semester and $500 for the summer term. Tuition, fees, and housing costs vary by program. Students should reference the cost sheet on their program brochure page in our searchable GoGlobal approved program database.

Affiliate Partner Fee for Study Abroad

Students do not pay Loyola tuition and fees for their term abroad. Students are also required to pay an Affiliate Partner Fee to Loyola of $1,000 per semester and $500 for the summer term. This fee covers the administrative costs for study abroad on an affiliate program and its associated placeholder course. 

Jesuit Affiliate Partner Billing and Fees 

Students who participate on a Jesuit affiliate program (SLU Madrid, Fordham London, Marquette Cape Town, Ricci Scholars ISEP Asia locations) do not pay Loyola tuition and fees for their term abroad. Program costs (tuition, fees, and housing) from the Jesuit affiliate programs are posted on the student LOCUS account. Tuition, fees, and housing costs vary by program. Students should reference the cost sheet on their program brochure page in our searchable GoGlobal approved program database.

Exchange/Direct-Enroll Partner Billing and Fees

Students who participate on an exchange/direct-enroll program pay Loyola tuition and fees per semester. Program costs (tuition, fees, and housing) are posted on the student’s LOCUS account. Students have a variety of housing options for our exchange/direct-enroll program portfolio. Housing fees vary and are paid directly to the university for university-affiliated housing or to the third-party housing provider. Students should reference the cost sheet on their program brochure page in our searchable GoGlobal approved program database.

Faculty-led Programs 

For spring semester programs with an embedded spring break or January term (J-term) travel component, students pay a program fee and their regular semester tuition and fees. For summer or J-term stand-alone programs, students are charged tuition for the number of credit hours of the course(s) taken abroad and a program fee. The program fee varies based on the program model (embedded versus stand-alone), duration, and location. It typically includes academic expenses, faculty leader expenses, housing accommodations, some meals, in-country transportation, and the CISI insurance coverage. Tuition and fees are only charged if the program meets the minimum enrollment.

Loyola’s Rome Center

The Rome Center is considered another campus of Loyola; therefore, undergraduate students pay similar tuition and housing fees as they do at Loyola’s Lake Shore or Water Tower campuses.
